Step 1: Preparing the colors

To get the two colors, add to one half of block of translucent a tiny amount of red and a tiny amount of orange to the other half of translucent. This means about 1/16 part of color with translucent, but it´s better to add less colour at the begining and add more if necessary.

Once the colors are mixed, make one layer of each color on the thickest setting of the pasta machine.

Make a straight cut on each clay sheet and join them along that line. Then you will have a unique sheet, half in color red and half in color orange.

Use the heart-shaped tiny cutter to make cuts just in the line that separates the two colors, so each tiny heart will be half red - half orange.

Try to make as many cuts as possible along the line that separates the two colors. Remove and separate the two halves of color to release the tiny hearts.

Pick up each heart and flat it with your fingers, trying to round the edges to get a more realistic look.

Put on your work surface a certain quantity of liquid clay and wet both faces of the hearts with it.

Step 6: Adding the sugar

Fill a little cup with fake sugar and put in some of the hearts (wet with liquid clay). Shake the little cup to help the fake sugar sticking on both faces of the hearts.

Use a puncheon or tweezers to remove the hearts from the cup and leave them on a sheet of paper. Once they are all covered with fake sugar bake them in the oven. Follow the manufacturer instructions to know the right temperature (Premo´s is 130ºC). If the temperature is right, 10 minutes should be enough to get them baked.


Step 6: Adding the sugar


Once baked and cooled, put the hearts in the palm of your hand and rub gently with the other hand to remove the excess of sugar. The candy hearts are now finished and can be used, for example, to fill a little glass bottle and mount it as a pendant.
